What is Heel Pain?
Since man can stand erect only because of his healthy feet and support of his heel it is always necessary to look for any injury or problem that occurs with any part of his/her feet. The whole weight of any individual's body finally rests on his feet; the stress that is generated on the feet can't be imagined. The feet have evolved for carrying load but if pressure is there on the feet then there might heel problems. If the individual is hitting his feet against any hard surface for a long time or if he is using the wrong kind of footwear one might experience heel pain. The continued neglect towards the painful heels will further aggravate the already painful heel. All itself with proper rest and relaxation cures a painful heel but the neglect will result in the further aggravation of the sore heel.
Causes of Heel pain
The commonest cause for heel pain is the Plantar Fasciitis. This condition is caused by a biomechanical imbalance of the body. Excessive running and jumping can cause the condition of the inflammation of the tissue of the heels. The heel pain in the Plantar Fasciitis condition is mainly under the heel and initially is mild but gets more painful when the patient is walking for the first time in the day. The Stone bruise condition is another cause of experiencing heel pain. Stepping on any rock or stone causes the stone bruise, the fat pad under heel gets bruised but there is no discoloration of the heel. The heel pain may go away with proper rest. One more cause of having heel pain is the condition of the Heel spur, which is nothing but a continuation of the Plantar Fasciitis. In the cause of the heel spur the patient may have neglected his earlier heel pain and the pain continues. A heel spur that is calcium accumulation is formed at the fascia tissue. One also might experience pain behind the heels this is because one might be doing excessive running or not putting on the right of shoes for one's feet.
Treating Heel pain
The usual treatment for heel pain is mainly rest and relaxation for the feet. Surgery and exercises for the feet are also prescribed in certain cases of heel pain.
