The frozen shoulder disorder of the shoulders is generally found in individuals who are in their forties and sixties or seventies. Frozen shoulder is very rarely found in individuals under forty. Women of this age group are the main victims of the frozen shoulder disorder. In the frozen shoulder disorder the tissue that surround the shoulder joint get inflamed and the arm movement gets limited, the range of movement of the shoulder remains very low. The risk factors for frozen shoulder include mainly diabetes, heart disease, the gradual progression of the rheumatic disease, a previous surgery which has had left the shoulder inactive or without movement for a considerable period of time. The pain that the frozen shoulder causes becomes the major cause for the immobilization of the shoulder and the condition then worsens further. The lack of the lubricating fluid which tends to decrease due to age also plays its part in having a frozen shoulder. Rheumatic diseases and diabetes play a major role in the evolution of a frozen shoulder.

Rheumatic disease

The rheumatic disease affects the bones and the bone joints of the body. If an individual is suffering from any rheumatic disease like Rheumatoid arthritis, Osteoarthritis and other related disorders the frozen shoulder is hastened by these rheumatic diseases. The rheumatic disease covers many different disorders of the joints of bone. The gradual development of the rheumatic diseases greatly affects the joints of the bones of the body and it may also help to make grounds as it were for the frozen shoulder disorder. Frozen shoulder disorder attacks the capsule that surrounds the joint of shoulder, what happens in any rheumatic disorder is that there is an inflammatory autoimmune disorder in which the immune system of the body attacks the joints in the body which makes it weak and more susceptible to frozen shoulder.

Rheumatid arthritis as leading to frozen shoulder

Since the rheumatic diseases attacks the tissues in the joints the body's joints become weak and there is pain in the joints. Rheumatid arthritis is the rheumatic disease which is systemic disease which badly affects the tissues in the body and mainly in the muscles thus making them more prone to inflammation and susceptible to the frozen shoulder disorder.
