Remove trace of nail paint

The nails need to be taken care of properly. Giving the nails a manicure is a good way to take care of them and pamper them. It is always better to remove the trace of nail paint before doing manicure. A proper way to remove it is very important as if the trace is left unattended can look ugly and manicure cannot be done properly.

Manicure at home

To initiate with remove all traces of the nail polish. Use many cotton balls if required. Use a nail file or an emery board to shape the nails. File in one direction only. Do not use the swing motion. To shorten the nails use the course side of the emery board and finish with the finely textured side. Work on the nails carefully and with respect. Do not go overboard with the manicure. To check if the nails are well done run the nails over a pair of old pantyhose. The nails should not obstacle the hose. Apply cuticle remover cream and gently push back the cuticles using a cotton bud. Never cut the cuticles. Massage away dead skin using circular actions. Apply hand lotion and massage the palm of the hand with the thumb of the other hand. This will improve blood circulation. Work the way all over hand and repeat with other hand.

Do's and don'ts

Before painting nails, clean them with an orange stick that has been wrapped with cotton and dipped in nail polish remover and rub over the surface of the nail. While polishing the nails start from the center of the nail. Paint one stroke down the center and then the sides of the nail. One should paint a nail in three strokes. Let it dry completely before applying the second coat. Apply colour after the nails are completely dry. Use a base coat before applying nail polish and then apply a colour of own choice and do not apply a new coat before the previous one dries. One should apply three coats of color. After applying colour apply topcoat and it will give added protection and help the nail colour to last longer without chipping. Store nail polish in the fridge. To prevent the cap from sticking apply a little Vaseline around it.
