Passive exercises for frozen shoulders

When a person suffers from a frozen shoulder its important for the patient to consult a doctor, after diagnosing the treatment is suggested. The treatment involves medication, injection, and physicals therapy. Surgery is recommended in rare cases where medication and physical therapy fails. With or without surgery exercise is very important. The exercise should be regular and consistent; it plays a very important and vital role in the recovery of a frozen shoulder. When deciding on what exercise one should do depends upon the severity of the problem and what the physician recommends. The forms of exercise can yoga, stretching and rotating of the arm. Passive exercise like yoga is very good for the your frozen shoulder. The human body is made of four hundred muscles and they all need to be used and functioned otherwise they would deteriorate. In yoga you're initially asked to do gentle movements, which are slow and steady. Getting small tugging movements worked upon to gain some motion. Then gentle yoga poses are recommended and then eventually more strenuous yoga positions, which help to strengthen the body parts.

Passive Exercises

Some of the passive exercises forms are shoulder circles, which help to free up the shoulder a little bit. At first small circles are done on and then as time progresses the circles become bigger and quicker. Then there are arm circles, these are initially done while lying down as this puts less tension on the shoulder. The circles movements are made in the air with the elbow. First small circles and than bigger ones as the pain reduces. Even shapes can be made like digits and alphabets etc, anything that would free up the shoulder muscles. The arm exercises are very important for relief. The frozen shoulder may be in the place where maximum pain is felt. It results in tight and stiff muscles. Yoga is good because in addition to exercises to free up shoulders it helps in keeping the body fit overall.

Another exercise is one where the muscles are stretched. Lightweight articles are given to the patient and the patient is expected to raise them in slow movements. Then another one is where a towel was kept behind his back and held in both hands. Then with the arm, which has the problem, the towel is pulled upwards and this is repeated giving the shoulder motion.
