Overview of frozen shoulders

Frozen shoulder is a condition of body where the person can experience the gradual onset of pain and the pain imposes the limitation on the motion of the shoulder. The movement of shoulder becomes so tough that even the patient faces difficulty even in performing the daily work. It causes a lot of discomfort and loss of movement of shoulder for the patient. A shoulder is considered to be the most mobile joint of the body. The arrangement of shoulder is very complex and various bones work together to provide the daily movement to the shoulder. The shoulder movement requires four bones and soft tissue network to work together. The ligament, tendons and muscles work together to produce the movement. The bones and soft tissues work together to keep the joint interact while it moves from one end to another. Each part of shoulder structure plays the important role in movement of shoulder and in its stability. The shoulder can get injured lot of pressure is created on it and the individual feel overloaded.

Definition of frozen shoulder

Another name for frozen shoulder is adhesive capsulate. It is a condition when the soft tissues capsule that surround the socket and ball joint of the shoulder are tighten and thicken. When this condition continued the capsules becomes inflamed causing scaring and adhesion. The formation of the scar interrupt the movement inside the joint as it reduces the space.

Types of frozen shoulders

There are mainly two types of frozen shoulders namely primary adhesive capsulitis and secondary adhesive capsulitis. The first kind of condition is caused due to immune system changes or imbalance relating biomechanical and hormonal. The diseases like diabetes, blood pressure, cardiovascular and neurological disorder contribute to the frozen shoulder. The person with diabetes has three times more chances of being affected by frozen shoulder as compared to a normal person. The second type is caused due to the factors like stiffness, injury, long immobilized period and surgery. If the patient does not undergone any kind of treatment then this condition will last for one three years. After treatment the condition of frozen shoulder can repeat itself.
