Hormonal treatment and endometriosis

Endometriosis is that painful condition in female health, which has an abnormal growth of the endometrial tissues outside the regular uterus lining where it is found. When the endometrial tissues get transplanted in areas other than its own it creates abnormalities and complications for the patient. The menstrual inflow or the retrograde menstruation carries the endometrial tissues in the other parts of the pelvic cavity to let it grow there and the implanted endometrial tissues then functions according to the secretion of the female hormone estrogen and the tissue may grow in size according to the hormone. The tissues bleed under the response of the hormone but since it is misplaced the blood cannot pass through the body like the regular menstrual flow and the irritation starts here. The endometriosis is very mysterious and does show the same signs in every patient, it may affect someone with infertility but it may also not become an impediment in pregnancy. But the endometrial implants in other vital areas of the body like the lungs, and brain can cause serious complications for the patient.

Hormonal treatment in endometriosis

The relation between endometriosis and female hormones is very close and the hormone in the female body affect the condition of the endometriosis in a very significant way and it can control as well as aggravate the condition in the patients with endometriosis. Hormonal treatment is the main treatment in endometriosis. The treatment is given only by observing if the symptoms of endometriosis improve during pregnancy, and the symptoms of endometriosis show improvement after the menopause in the patient. In the hormonal treatment the pseudo pregnancy medical treatment is given to the patient in which drugs are used that make the body think that it is pregnant and for these oral contraceptives are used as well as progesterone. In the second type of hormonal treatment the body is fooled into thinking that it is past menopause, and this medical treatment is called as the pseudo menopause therapy. The drugs that are used in this category include danazol and GnRH agonists.

Oral contraceptives

In the treatment of the endometriosis pseudo pregnancy treatment helps to achieve results, the oral contraceptives are birth control tablets, which are given to the patient as a high dose. Until recently this was the best way to treat endometriosis but now it is used minimally, but this treatment seems the best way out in the cases of endometriosis. The birth control pills have two female hormones, which are estrogen and progestin.
