CPAP
If you suffer from sleep apnea, you might be interested to know more about CPAP. Here is some information regarding the CPAP and sleep apnea.
Sleep apnea is a very common sleeping disorder that affects millions of people. Sleep apnea is defined as the inability for air to reach your lungs due to a blockage in your throat or mouth during periods of sleep. If your lungs do not receive oxygen during your sleep it will instinctually wake up affecting the quality and length of sleep.
Sleep apne can range from mild to severe. Some people only are awaken a few times a night while others that have a severe form of sleep apnea can awake over 100 times a night. A CPAP is a device that has been proven effective to help people with sleep apnea breath during the night and reduce the number of times that a person's sleep is disrupted. CPAP stands for continuous positive air pressure. The device looks like a catchers mask and goes over the face of the individual. Positive air pressure is then turned on and the person's airways are no longer clogged or blocked. The CPAP has helped many people return to quality sleep.
Many people are uncomfortable at first with the device, but after a few nights, most people that wear the CPAP adjust well to it. The CPAP is usually covered by health insurance and is relatively inexpensive. If you think you are suffering from sleep apnea it is wise to consult your physician for a proper diagnosis.
