Definition

When our bodies regulate heat the body sweats or perspires and in some people there is immense sweating on the hands, feet and face this condition is known as hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis simply means the body sweating beyond the normal point to cool down the body. This process of sweating of the body is controlled by the involuntary sympathetic nervous system. This nervous system maintains and controls all the sweat glands in the human body. About two third of our sweat glands are found in the hands. The main reason for hyperhidrosis is not at found but most studies and researchers have found that this problem is heredity.

Treatment

It has been years where doctors are trying to find a cure for this problem as it causes a lot of social embarrassment. People suffering from this problem have tried many methods from ointments, creams, medicines, and herbal treatments to stop the excessive sweating. Even surgery can be another approach to curing of this problem but due to the location of the sympathetic nerve medical procedures hesitated going in for a surgery. The surgery was done through the neck, chest or back. These reasons made surgery not preferable and very unpopular among patients and surgeons. After many years endoscopic approach was found which allowed the patient to go home on the same day the surgery was done, it had lesser complications.

Clonidine is severe needs to be treated with surgery and it cost a lot. Most insurance companies cover up for the cost because it is considered as medical necessity. A lot of information about the surgery is available on the net and even the procedure for applying through insurance companies. The surgery costs money, which can be recovered from insurance companies but it, saves you from a lot of humiliation and embarrassment in social gatherings and public places. Because your always conscious of the fact that some or the other part of your body is sweating for example if you sweat a lot on your hands then when it comes to a hand shake you are hesitant.
