Calisthenics: Its meaning
Calisthenics are actually repetitive exercises that help in strengthening the body and improve the figure. The word "calisthenics" has come from the Greek words "kallos" for beauty and "thenos" for strength. The calisthenics exercises must be increased gradually until a stage is reached, where the body gets adjusted to it. The calisthenics exercises are intense and physically demanding, even at the core level. The exercises are harder than they look. Examples of calisthenics exercises include push ups, stand with feet shoulder wide apart, then squatting as far as possible bringing the arms forward parallel to the floor and then returning to the same position. The other exercise includes push-ups.

Calisthenics exercises help in improvement in the health and the level of fitness. One will feel more fit and energetic after doing the exercises. It also increases the self-confidence. This type of exercise also contributes to mental well-being and helps treat depression. Heavy calisthenics can help to improve self-depression. It reduces the mental sickness and relieves or slackens the nervous system of the body.
Calisthenics exercises help in increasing stamina as well as strengthening the bones ad muscles of the body. These exercises may cause one to feel tired during and immediately following the activity. But the lasting effects will be increased strength, stamina and reduction of fatigue. As the stamina increases, the body becomes resistant to many diseases and gets accustomed to tediousness and hence, the body becomes more and more fit.
One can spare 10-30 minutes in a day at least to do such vigorous exercises. Its effect will be seen on the body after 1 or 2 months. Everyday exercises also can also be used to increase the level of body activity. Thus, calisthenics exercises are such exercises, which can be done and should be done in a regular basis, to keep the body fit in all aspects. It has all good effects if done safely and properly.
