The treatment involves inserting extremely fine needles in to the shoulder region to stimulate particular points that allow the free flow of energy to the shoulder. The treatment depends on the type of treatment. The practitioner may use a number of needles or just a few. The needles are allowed to remain in place for 15 to 40 minutes. During that time they may be moved or manipulated. This is because the needles are hair thin and flexible. They are generally inserted superficially. Most of the acupuncture treatments are relatively painless.
